Representatives of Tryst Lions, V Wrestling - Etko Academy, Scottish Wrestling Centre and Edinburgh Wrestling Club along with unattached athletes had great success competing at the 2018 British Senior Championships held at Manchester Y Club Wrestling (home to the Manchester YMCA Wildcats wrestling club) on Saturday 27 October, heading home with a haul of 8 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.
Christelle Lemofack (53k), Amy Keyes (62k), both Tryst Lions and Angele Tomo (72k) Scottish Wrestling Centre, all won gold medals in the Female competitions.
In the Male Freestyle competition, there were wins for Viorel Etko (61k), Ianic Sacultan (79k) both V Wrestling - Etko Academy and Nicolae Cojocaru (74k - Unattached). Ross Connelly (61k), Pedram Nikabadi (79k) both Scottish Wrestling Centre and Finlay Marshall (74k) Tryst Lions, won silver medals and Joe Hendry (97k - Unattached) won bronze.
In the Male Greco Roman competition Joe Hendry (97k - Unattached) was in action again and took first place. There was also a first place for Scott Duff (60k) Edinburgh Wrestling Club and second place for Hedayat Zare (77k) Tryst Lions.
Cary Depel, Chair of the Scottish Wrestling Association, was delighted with the results and said 'when we consider it population weighted then we have really outperformed'.
